Shelter offers $10 pet adoption special

Starting this Saturday, June 28, welcome a furry friend into your home for just $10, thanks to supporters of Blount County’s shelter.

The $10 special, a savings of up to $100 off each adoption fee, runs through Saturday, July 12. The shelter is open Saturdays from 9–2 and Tuesdays through Fridays from 11–4:30, and will be closed for the July 4 holiday. All are welcome to adopt, whether or not you are a county resident.

The adoption fee includes spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, and treatments for intestinal parasites and fleas. Microchipping, which provides a permanent identification so long as the owner’s contact information is kept current, is available for $10.

The generous adoption fee discount is made possible by donations from Tails from Alabama, the Animal League of Birmingham, Angel Jackson, Kathy Doore, and Kathleen Durrett.

“The Animal League of Birmingham has worked with the Blount County shelter for many years,” explained Erica Anderson, League president. “We wanted to help them out because the staff works so hard for the animals. We know they really care.”
